Don’t you love it when someone tells you about the weirdest dream they just had? That’s what The Boy And The Heron felt like to me.

Okay, there was this boy, right? His mom dies and he and his father go to live at a new place with his new wife. I think she’s like the old wife’s sister and now she’s suddenly pregnant with the dad’s baby and is all like, “I’m your new mom!” So, like the boy goes to his new school and hates it so much he hits himself in the head with a rock. What a card! I mean, can you imagine? And, there’s a heron who swoops down at the boy a lot and looks into his bedroom window sometimes. And then the new mom walks into the forest and goes missing. The boy like goes to look for her and finds a weird house that fell from the sky. And the heron isn’t really a heron. He’s some kind of troll thing and he pulls the boy into like another land on some kind of journey. And then the boy is attacked by pelicans. Pelicans! What did I eat before I went to bed? It was crazy! Anyway a bunch of other stuff happens to the boy and then I woke up. Weird, right?

Over two hours of being stuck listening to your weird co-worker’s worst dream story in real time. Except I paid money to see it. What a nightmare.
